ESERO Conference, Sept 27th

ree

I'm very much looking forward to the ESERO conference on Space Education, online at Saturday morning, Sept 27th.

The programme includes:

Dr. Johanna Vos

Talk title – “Exometeorology: Weather on Worlds Beyond our Own”

Johanna Vos is an astrophysicist whose research explores weather on worlds beyond our solar system. Originally from Dublin, she obtained her PhD from the University of Edinburgh followed by postdoctoral research fellowships at the American Museum of Natural History and the Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies. She currently leads a research group at Trinity College Dublin funded by the Royal Society, Research Ireland and the European Research Council.

Dr. Daniel Keaney

Talk title – “Shaping Planets – from Mars to the Reef”

Dr. Keaney is an Irish Research Scientist with a background spanning biotechnology, microbiology, and marine conservation. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from Munster Technological University (MTU), before completing a PhD in Environmental Microbiology with  both terrestrial and extraterrestrial applications. Following experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, he is now a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Future Reefs Team at the University of Technology Sydney. His current work focuses on developing a nutrient-based therapeutic designed to strengthen corals against thermal stress and bleaching, helping to safeguard reef ecosystems in the face of climate change.

Prof. Lorraine Hanlon

We will have an update on EIRSAT-1’s associated resources and curricular connections from Prof Lorraine Hanlon from University College Dublin. She is the Endorsing Professor for EIRSAT-1, Ireland’s first satellite, a CubeSat developed by an interdisciplinary team of UCD students and staff under ESA’s ‘Fly Your Satellite!’ programme.

Plus workshops....
