Mathematical Modelling of a Bungee Jump

Thanks To Rory Geoghegan for sharing this file that creates a mathematical model of a bungee jump.

Not only is this interesting in its own right, but it would look like it fits in with the Leaving cert Physics Spec in terms of:

• Energy stored in a spring

• Hooke's Law

• Conservation of energy

• Velocity, acceleration and displacement

• Equations of Motion

• Vectors vs scalars

(and they're only the ones that come immediately to mind)

Its also an example of the wonders that can be worked with Excel, with a bit of imagination and skill.
